Angel’s Star Pujols Out For Season

@AFP

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – First baseman Albert Pujols will miss the remainder of the Major League Baseball season because of a foot injury, the Los Angeles Angels announced.

Pujols, 33, has been hampered by a tear in the plantar fascia tissue on the bottom of his left foot for much of the 2013 season. The last time he played a game for the Angels was on July 26.

In 99 games this season, the former three-time National League MVP Pujols batted .258 with 17 homeruns and 64 RBIs.

This will be the lowest season average in the career of Pujols, who won two World Series titles with St. Louis, in 2011 and 2006.
